OOC PREFERENCES
CONTACT METHOD: 100% best way to contact me is via discord at vikael#0221
THREAD-JACKING: Yes, 100%, and if it's allowed, the Bull will do it too.
FOURTH WALLING / CANON PUNCTURE: I'd really rather not. Like, this guy's really uncomfortable with reality-bending things.
BACKTAGGING: Forever.
AVOIDED TOPICS: None that I can think of.
PREFERRED GENDER PRONOUN: she/her

IC CHARACTERISTICS
CURRENT CANON POINT: Post Trespasser
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
Height: 7'6"
Weight: Aroudn 400 lbs

Broad and swarthy, the Bull has ample muscles and enough padding to suggest he likes to eat and drink hard after fighting hard. He also has a 3ft horn span and casts a very impressive shadow.

DEMEANOR: In casual conversation, and in a fight, the Bull is loud, laughs easily, and speaks slowly, like he has all the time in the world. He also has no shame. None.

ABILITIES: He's a trained spy and is very good at reading what people don't say. He's also a very good actor, in that he plays the big, dumb jock roll really well when he's actually very analytical. He's also exceptionally powerful, swings a two-handed ax like it's nothing, and can drink. A lot. Is that a skill?

MEDICAL INFORMATION: While he can be harmed, Qunari have slightly tougher skin than humans. Bull himself suffered a devastating head wound several years ago that still gives him occasional headaches, and a severe injury to his right ankle requires a brace and causes it to ache sometimes. Otherwise, he's a perfectly healthy man in his late 40s.

OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS: Uh. If you've ever intentionally killed kids...or are a literal demon, this guy is not going to be a friend. He's a very dangerous enemy.

IC PERMISSIONS
MENTAL: Yes and yes, and you will not have a friend. At all.
MIMICRY: He'd find it hilarious. Know that on the outside, he seems to act like everyone else, but a lot of his upbringing makes him act slightly differently, so he would likely be difficult to mimic except superficially.
VIOLENCE: He's strong, he's hard to knock down, and the more bloodlust he has going, the harder he is to take down. He has a weakness on his right side due to his missing eye, but he's an exceptionally skilled fighter and he can improvise weapons as easily as use the one he has. I'd say we should talk it out, because he's also trained against a wide variety of combatants including mages.
MAGIC: He has no resistences and you're welcome to it.
DEBATE: Absolutely!
OTHER / NOTES: The Bull is very lude and flirts with everyone. Sex to him is like scratching an itch and rarely involves anything romantic.

IN-CHARACTER:
Character name: The Iron Bull
Character journal: [personal profile] theirondragon
Series name: Dragon Age
Canon notes: The following choices were made in his version of the world;
Female Cousland (warrior) was the Hero of Ferelden
     → Alistair and Cousland rule

Female Hawke (Mage)
→ Sided with mages in Kirkwall
     → Anders was killed

Female Trevelyan (Mage) was Inquisitor
     → Sided with Mages
     → Mages were allied
     → Recruited all companions
→ Celene reconciled and rules alone
→ Bull went into the Fade w/ Inquisitor
→ Bull encouraged to save the Chargers/became Tal-Vashoth

Bull's DF canon point was just after "Demands of the Qun", but before moving into the Endgame of Inquisition. Four more years have passed in his homeworld, they've saved the world from both a Tevinter death cult and a Qunari invasion, he's entered into a dedicated and forbidden relationship with a certain Tevinter Magister by the name of Dorian Pavus.
Species: Qunari (which is also his nationality. They are descended from the Kossith, but the name Qunari is used interchangably)
Age: Late 40s

Arrival Condition: A few minor scrapes, but nothing life-threatening. His most dire injuries (the eye, his left ankle) happened many years ago.

History: wiki

A lot of the hardship The Iron Bull faced in the fleet was nothing more than he'd already endured. Originally, he was possessed of a real fear of demons and other things that can alter the way someone thinks, or their perception of reality, and at first, Bull was perpetually on edge with all the things that were shoved into his head without his consent. After his specialization, and making a few friends, and simply acclimating to it, he got better at dealing with the idea and even started to embrace the idea of being an object for entertainment for unknown people far, far away. He also started to find his own identity, apart from the Chargers and found more things he was interested in beyond fighting to blow off steam and stave off the Qunari need for violence. He'd really started to feel like he belonged in the Fleet, and finding that belonging outside of his 'family' back home did a lot to calm his mind and prove to him he didn't need the Qun to keep himself together.

Personality: While not something the Bull is fully conscious of, one of the reasons he's survived, mentally, all the tragedy and combat he's endured is his semi-conscious ability to compartmentalize. In essence, there are three distinct but unified aspects of The Iron Bull: Hissrad, The Iron Bull, and Bull. Hissrad is his logical, analytical, deeply thinking side, capable of deception and subterfuge to attain his goals, and heavily calculated and tactically minded. Some of these traits are part of his Ben-Hassrath training, giving him a very "Big Picture" perspective and a pragmatic approach to most situations, people, places, and objectives. Qunari have very specific roles and tenets governing the use of magic and the control of mages (up to and including binding them and sealing their lips lest a demon is summoned), yet the Bull understands mages are not the demonic summoners the Qun defines them as, going to far as to welcome a Dalish apostate into his own inner circle in the Chargers.

The clearest distinction the Bull has, though, is one he actually illustrates himself: The Iron Bull is a weapon. "The Iron Bull" is that unbridled rage, that blood-lust and need to rampage, the lust for mayhem and thirst for violence. The Iron Bull views enemies on the battlefield as simply that, enemies in need of slaughter. He revels in the chaos of a battle, fueled by the deeply Qunari tenet of bringing order to Chaos. The more powerful the display the more exciting the battle, and he loves swapping battle stories when things were particularly awesome. Now that he's Tal-Vashoth, the Bull realizes he needs an outlet for this aspect of his mind, but he suffices with having bad guys to fight, or a damned good sparring partner, but that doesn't stop him from making sure people know how to take him down if the need ever arises.

Bull is a deeply caring and nurturing individual, protective and supportive of those closest to him, and innocents with an almost dogmatic devotion. His deepest fear, after all, stems from the possibility the aggression within him could bubble over and result in him hurting people he cares about, but that same aggression can be turned against those who've hurt his loved ones and there is no escaping the Bull's wrath if it ever happens. Now that he's been named Tal-Vashoth, those loved ones and tight-knit family, who he chose over the ingrained tenets he was raised on, are his focus, as is his dedication to the Inquisition's and closing the damned demon-spitting hole in the sky.

In interaction, the Bull is laid back, loves a good joke (or a really bad one, puns included), a good drink, and a good story. His enjoyment of action and of a good fight "really gets the blood pumping", and he's not above goading someone into a fight if it's going to be awesome. At first glance a brutish thug who's quick to jump into a fight and not think it through (which he is known for, it's how he lost his eye after all), he's just as quick to pick up a book to read up on a subject than he is to go in half-cocked and ready to fight.

While he isn't as dogmatically afraid of mages and demons as most Qunari, he is easily unsettled by things that are strange or out of the ordinary or could be spiritual or demonic in origin. He'd rather leave the understanding of magic and its endeavors to the mages along with all that other "magic crap", but he has no problems fighting alongside them or trusting them at his back if they've earned that trust. He's able to see the benefits of magic but is more apt to trust a really big sword than a magic spell to save the day at the end of it all.

The Iron Bull is a big man with a lot of big appetites and who finds the most enjoyment in pushing all things to their limits, and finding out where those limits are. The Qunari are very open about their sexual appetites, and the more prudish nature of the south is still a point of cultural disagreement for the Qunari. Quite frankly, he thinks it's silly that people keep that stuff all wrapped up, that the sexual tension aroused after a good fight, or a good dinner, or a hell, a good game of cards shouldn't be something hidden, and somebody should just go do something about it. Fighting, fucking, drinking, food, those are the things enjoying life is all about, and the more of all of that, the better. He takes his challenges fooling around in the bedroom as seriously as he takes a fight on a battlefield, finding the most enjoyment in pushing himself and his partner (or partners, just ask those three kitchen maids) to the limits of their endurance. Watchwords are of the utmost importance, of course. Pain is nice, and the sort of pleasure that ends up in bent bed frames and torn sheets is awesome, but knowing when to stop is more so.

In essence, the Bull likes things simple: go in, do the job, get out, have a drink or six afterward, try not to think about all the creepy shit you saw on the way. If you have to, that's fine. A good bit of violence will get all that worked out of your system, keep your head straight. If you've earned his loyalty, he'll stand beside you through whatever you need him to, and he'll never waver, no matter how uncomfortable it makes him, and he takes his jobs as seriously as he takes his personal relationships. If the Bull had given his word to stand with you, then that's where he's going to be, until all the asses you need to get kicked have been.

All of his changes due to his time in the Fleet were personal rather than physical, and I covered them in his history section above. To summarize, the Fleet gave Bull the stability he needed to grow beyond the Qun and its influence over his life. He found stability in his friends and companions and grew as a person both in interests and in thought.

Abilities: Iron Bull speaks fluent Trade and Qunlat (the official language of the Qunari). He's exceptionally observant, analytical, and tactically minded. He was trained as a spy for the Ben-Hassrath in the subtle art of reading what people aren't saying based on body language and inflection. He is also very skilled at reading what people don't say based on verbal and demonstrated emotional cues. Also, he's a specialist in using 2-handed weapons, and is a Reaver. Basically, he swings around really big weapons (be they hammers, axes, or swords), and cuts things into pieces. Also, the more someone hits him, the angrier he becomes, and the stronger his abilities at the cost of defense.

Personal Item: During a reclaim event in DF, Bull found the Prismatic Greataxe. Pictured here, when not held, the axe looks like a shiny rod. Only when wielding it in battle do the magical blades manifest around the top. They do random additional elemental damage when they hit things.
